THE LEARNING CENTRE

Have you been down to the Learning Centre at Assynt Leisure yet?
We are very busy getting things up and running again and do hope that you will find something to suit your needs.
We can point you to courses and agencies that support your lifelong learning or training for work needs and also offer very basic computing courses to get you on that first rung of the digital ladder.

UHI ACCESS
How would you like to study for a degree in Lochinver? The University of the Highlands and Islands are offering distance degrees relevant to our own local needs, through local learning centres. Don’t worry if you think you are lacking qualifications to start a degree. UHI offer several access courses to help you get a start. Please pop down to browse the leaflets or phone to make an appointment with Jane, who can tell you what degrees or other courses are on offer. Funding is also available, especially if you have not already used up your SAAS allocation. Come down and have a look at the red (students with dependant children), green and blue “Helping you meet the costs of learning” booklets.

In 2006 Assynt Leisure Centre was officially granted status as a branded LEARNDIRECT SCOTLAND learning centre and has now appointed a full-time Learning Centre Coordinator to help meet local educational needs. Partnerships have been forged with Careers Scotland, The University of the Highlands and Islands, North Highland College and Inverness College.
Information is also available about the The Open College and The Open University.

Learndirect branding affords free access to on-line courses, which may be accessed via the computer room upstairs in the centre.
